OHM: ESP32-C5 Tux Dev Board

Seeing as how it’s Open Hardware Month, I wanted to help promote some of the awesome certified open-source hardware for sale on Tindie! If you’re interested in the ESP32, it’s worth noting that there are many variations with different features, and the lesser-known ESP32-C5 is a really interesting chip. The ESP32-C5 Tux Dev Board is a great little board for getting started with it.

Featuring the ESP32-C5, which has support for dual-band WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5 LE and 802.15.4 (the standard that is the basis for Zigbee, Thread, 6LoWPAN and more) as well as a 240MHz RISC-V processor, making for a powerful wireless communications package! The Tux Dev Board also has an on-board TP4056 battery charge controller, plus the requisite RGB LED for visual feedback.

And the best part is it’s totally open hardware — certified by OSHWA as CH000029 with the hardware under CERN OHL-S, software under the GPL and documentation under CC-BY-SA! What an awesome combination. So you can support open hardware by buying one, by using the design in your own projects, or by contributing to future development. What an awesome way to build a community!
