Capture More, Light Better: New Accessories for Your Raspberry Pi 5

Hello and Happy Friday, everyone! We have a smaller release week this week but these three new products are sure to help most of you out (even if you didn't know you needed them!). This week, we have two new Raspberry Pi 5 Camera Cables measuring 300mm and 500mm as well as a new circuit board indicator that acts as a light pipe for your SMD LEDs! Now, let's jump in and take a closer look at all of this week's new products!

These are 300mm and 500mm camera cables for use with MIPI displays and the Raspberry Pi 5. The Raspberry Pi 5 provides two four-lane MIPI connectors, each of which can support either a camera or a display. These connectors use the same 22-way, 0.5mm-pitch “mini” FPC format as the Compute Module Development Kit, and require adapter cables to connect to the 15-way, 1mm-pitch “standard” format connectors on our current camera and display products.

SparkFun CBI Light Pipe for SMD LEDs 5mm - Right Angle

COM-25893
$0.95

This is a 5mm right angle light pipe to get the light of an LED out the end plate of an enclosure. We couldn't find a light pipe that fit all our needs, so we made it! This clip snaps over any SMD LED that is 1206 size or smaller. Addressable LEDs 2x2mm or smaller work great! The clip is easily inserted but holds tightly in place. The clip can be removed if needed. The black housing prevents light bleed between neighboring indicators.

That's it for this week. As always, we can't wait to see what you make! Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. Please be safe out there, be kind to one another! We'll be back with more new products next week so make sure to check back then. Happy hacking!

Never miss a new product!
