It’s amazing the processing power that can fit onto a single chip these days, such as the RISC-V based ESP32-C3. Of course, to take advantage of this minuscule wonder, you’ll need other components, such as a breakout board, removable storage, screen, sensors, and more depending on your application. The Pocuter One, as in “pocket computer,” takes care of this for you, with a wide variety of peripherals and breakout pins in a roughly coin-sized footprint.
The device, a product of a 1000% funded 2021 Kickstarter campaign, features a .95 inch 96 x 64 pixel color OLED screen for display. This folds on top of the device’s PCB, which holds the processor, along with a MEMS microphone, light sensor, and accelerometer. The device even includes battery charging capabilities, meaning that making the tiny all-in-one computing device that you’ve been dreaming of will require a minimum of add-on components, if anything at all.
The device is available by itself, or with a battery and/or microSD card as needed. There’s also an option to include a housing, or even a watch kit, a role for which is seems perfectly suited. Beyond that, the possibilities are endless. Perhaps you could make a little VU meter to analyze music and noise in a room, or a connected weather device to show current and upcoming conditions. You could even arrange several side-by-side to display multiple snippets of information at a glance!
