As part of tuning engines, the vacuum system needs to be calibrated to ensure that the correct amount of air or air/fuel mix is being drawn into the engine. On multi-carb/multi-throttle systems, this is even more critical because the amount of air or air/fuel needs to be carefully balanced between all cylinders. This handy-dandy portable digital vacuum gauge has been designed for this task in particular.
In the past, manual vacuum meters could be used, but most mechanics only have one, and so you’d have to test one cylinder, and then the next, etc. However, with a multi-channel system like this, any multiple of 4 cylinders can easily be measured simultaneously, making it easier to spot issues and fine-tune the amount of vacuum. Mismatches between cylinders can reduce performance and decrease fuel economy, as well as increase the amount of partially burnt fuel exhausted from the engine — a significant contributor to vehicle emissions!
With a 12-bit ADC and self-calibration features, this tool will be accurate and useful for many years. It has a built-in 1200mAh battery that can be replaced by the end-user, further extending its life. Handy features such as the bars changing colours when readings are within 1-2% of each other mean it’s easy to use, and the device will self-compensate for ambient temperatures from -40C all the way to 125C (though I hope it never gets that hot in your shop)! It even comes with various silicon hoses to attach to most common vacuum ports. If you’re ready to ditch your old analogue meter (and maybe pick up a cool lamp) go check out origin_v0id’s store page!
