Gleaming Sonic Fractals From A T-APE!

With so many new products released each week, it’s sometimes hard to pick out one that really grabs you. The MMXX T-APE BYTEBEAT EXPLORER however, is an instant hit, combining the lo-fi aesthetics of a cassette with a fractal based granular synth engine, capable of chopping up and mangling an entire audio spectrum of glorious noise! Fire up your tape deck, and press play!

The T-APE uses what they call ‘ByteBeat’; a mathematically generated fractal-inspired engine to generate phenomenal metallic tones, wild sequences and ascending arpeggios from the on board sound generator. It consists of two layers which combine to emit a host of other-worldly tones – a pseudo-wavetable synthesis engine alongside a playback engine for it’s flash memory sounds. The results are a glistening, gleaming fire-pit or furnace of crunchy digital harmonics.  It comes with 500kb of animal sounds (as you’d expect), with 2MB of total sampling capacity – which you can populate using a micro USB cable and computer.

You’ll find a detailed overview of the features in the image above. The T-APE comes from the makers of the Gecho sampling-loop-synth, which proved to be hugely popular. Both come from the mind of mayojaster who’s based in Ireland. Hear some of their minute masterpieces below:
